Marketing Awareness for an Author

Roland Smith is a local author that has written dozens of books, so we’ve come up with a marketing process to help build awareness for his new books. This month his book titled Beneath was just released, so to build awareness we’ve done the following steps:

  • Sent out an email newsletter to his list
  • Updated the Home page on the web site to add a new clickable banner
  • Written a blog post about the book
  • Tweeted on twitter
  • Posted to Facebook

His site is built with WordPress so we’re using a plugin called Newsletter to compose, send and track our email without having to use another separate tool, like Constant Contact.

On the Home page we define four slides to rotate through, each one may be clicked and is linked to a blog post.

The blog post is a book summary with links to purchase at three major stores.

On Facebook the banner is updated, and the Status is updated to talk about the new book. Notice that Roland has 26,636 Likes, and a Post Reach of some 912,140. Yes, he is getting noticed.
