Network Solutions should be avoided

Last year I blogged about how poor the web hosting services were at Network Solutions, and today I tried again with another client to install WordPress, but to no avail. The status for WordPress installation is permanently stuck at, “Installing..”. Manually looking at MySQL database tables I can find a database created, but no tables added, so WordPress hasn’t even got that far.

WordPress never finishes installation

I used the Chat feature at Network Solutions to find out why WordPress didn’t install, but they were not helpful and offered no solutions. Next, I tried to use FTP to see if I could manually upload WordPress files, but FTP didn’t work at all.

FTP fails to connect

I tried Chat support again, but they couldn’t help at either. They did direct me to a paid service called “MyTime Support”, so I gave that a phone call. That technician confirmed that WordPress installs were not working, and that FTP wasn’t working, so he agreed to escalate the issue with Network Solutions support, and all that they could provide me with was a ticket number.

I had already spent over 60 minutes so far, then I sent an email to my client recommending that they choose a reliable web hosting vendor, like IONOS, and cancel their plan with Network Solutions.

After waiting 4 hours the WordPress installation at Network Solutions actually finished, what a slow response time, as other web hosting vendors install WordPress in under 2 minutes. Out of curiosity I logged into WordPress and tried to upload a logo to add in the header, but uploading wasn’t working properly.

Failed Uploading Media

I’ve contacted tech support at Network Solutions and “MyTime Support” multiple times, yet they cannot help in a timely manner, so they simply lose another customer.
