Phishing Scams are Getting More Polished

I’ve been using IONOS as a web hosting vendor for many years now, so I know the look of their email messages. Today I received an email that listed a From address of: IONOS Customer Service. The grammar and wording looked proper, however when I clicked on the From address, it confirmed that this was a phishing scam, and not a legitimate email address used by IONOS.

Hovering my cursor over the two links also revealed scam addresses.

Be vigilant when reading your email each day to be certain that:

  • From address is legitimate
  • Links are legitimate, before clicking on them
  • Account number or customer ID is proper
  • English grammar and wording is proper
  • Logos are correct
